There were bells…

I was recently helping my dad paint his house when I started humming “Til There Was You,” a song written for a musical and covered by the Beatles. Pretty soon my dad started humming along and before you know it we’re singing our hearts out to the rhythm of paintbrushes slapping against the wood.

I’ve recently moved back to my old neighborhood. I’m living one block from the house I was born into, the house I moved out of when I was 10. There’s a church in this neighborhood with a bell tower that rings every three hours. When I was little and awake at night and afraid of the darkĀ  I’d be comforted by the bells. It’s the thing I missed most when we moved to a new neighborhood. There’s something very lovely about hearing those bells again.

I’m trying to change my life right now. I’m trying to take responsibility for myself. I’m trying to be happy. It’s been working since I decided to make it work. :)
